This unique and beautiful species has, unfortunately, functionally disappeared from US collections.
A Phelsuma inexpectata glued her eggs in a bamboo hollow. They are critically endangered and are very rare in collections. They are a beautiful species, but are challenging as they are exceedingly fast, shy, and can be sporadic breeders. Females mature later than other species and males are fiercely territorial, challenging males and even other species in neighboring enclosures. I once watched a loose male run along a wall stop to harass other species (some larger than himself) until he saw me and was recovered.
